Caitlyn Jenner

She was once known as the “World’s Greatest Athlete” and the father to reality tv’s First Family. In April, Bruce Jenner came out as a transgender woman during a record-breaking 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer. Just two months later, Jenner graced the cover of Vanity Fair to make her debut as Caitlyn, sending the media into a whirlwind. Her transition became the subject of her docu-series I Am Cait, which was renewed for a second season for 2016.

Drake vs. Meek Mill

Remember that time when trigger fingers turned into twitter fingers? In late July, Meek Mill aimed a series of tweets at Drake, accusing him of not writing his own lyrics. Drake responded with not one, but two diss tracks – “Charged Up” and “Back to Back Freestyle”. Meek responded with more tweets and his diss track “Wanna Know”. This “beef” trended on social media for nearly two weeks.

Adele’s Record-breaking Comeback

After a four-year hiatus, Adele released a new a single and announced her new album in October. Her single, “Hello” was the first to reach over a million digital sales in one week. Meanwhile, her album, 25, has only been out for five weeks and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. Adele also announced her Adele Live 2016 world tour that would go on to sell out.

In January, we got an inside look of a lion’s den with the premiere of Fox’s Empire. Portrayed by Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, Lucious and Cookie Lyon’s dysfunctional family took primetime television by storm. With each episode having a different celebrity guest appearance, Empire’s racy and straight-to-the-point performance has earned it Grammy, Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
