Grady’s Sports Media Certificate is the first of its kind in the Southeastern Conference and the most in-depth program in the country.

The program is directed by Prof. Vicki Michaelis, a 20-year veteran of the sports media industry at outlets including USA Today, where she was the lead Olympics reporter for 12 years. Prof. Welch Suggs is associate director. His sports media experience includes stints at The Chronicle of Higher Education and Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal.

The interdisciplinary program debuted in Fall 2014. It will give students foundational knowledge of the societal impact of sports and sports media, along with in-depth training, multiplatform skills and a distinct job-market advantage in one of the media industry’s growth sectors.
